‘You’re talking about extremes’: Kamala Harris shows a better America, far from Trump

This debate is all about personality. Voters not only need to hear statistics about the country, they also need to be reassured that they have confidence in the leader they choose.

Vice President Kamala Harris sensed the moment.

Harris envisions her presidency as an “opportunity economy” that will provide opportunities for all citizens of our country, from small business owners to working-class families.

Kamala came to play. She knew what role she had to play and what role Trump was going to play.

“I’ll tell you that in this debate tonight, you’re going to hear the same tired old playbook, a bunch of lies and grievances and insults,” Harris said Tuesday.

Like most people at the party, Harris was right.

Trump is a wild, chaotic, scheming coyote, and Harris had to be the wily womanizer, eschewing his tired old tactics.

Trump is running out of resources, except for his speeches on violence.

“In Springfield, Ohio, they eat the dogs. The people who came, they eat the cats. They eat the pets of the people who live there.”

Trump might be expected to avoid the usual dirt he spouts during the campaign, but he stuck to his tired old playbook, referring to Harris’ “Marxist” father, who was a college professor.

“She’s a Marxist. Everybody knows she’s a Marxist,” Trump said of Kamala Harris.

Trump has attacked Harris for pretty much everything. “She spends her time at the beach,” the former president said. Really? He’s the guy who uses spray tans to keep his burnt orange complexion.

Trump has launched every attack possible, but to no avail. But I was completely shocked by the fact that he accused Democrats of trying to assassinate him. “I probably took a bullet to the head because of these things,” he said Tuesday. What things?

Whatever the attack, Harris took on Trump, but more importantly, she gave us a glimpse of what we can become.

Americans Must Choose a Better Future

Before tonight, I thought Harris’s role was simply to not make mistakes. But Harris looked straight into the cameras, serious and compassionate about the effects of the abortion ban on this country, and delivered a message of concern and hope for change. She spoke honestly about the challenges that incest and rape survivors face when trying to get health care.

As Trump began his ignorant rants on stage, Harris smiled and rested her chin on her hand.

For my part, I am tired of Trump. But exhaustion is not enough to convince voters to switch candidates. They need to see a leader who can deliver results. That is what Harris presented on Tuesday.

Trump is good at division, using terms like “migrant crime.” His face Tuesday showed an angry man willing to do anything to demonize Harris. He failed miserably.

“Let’s turn the page,” Harris said, addressing the American people. But we can only open the next chapter together.

It’s not a reality TV show, it’s a nation.

A country founded by the people, for the people.

Trump sells a message of animal consumption and infanticide. Harris, a message of hope, moderate politics and a united future. After this disastrous debate, only one message deserves our vote.
