Millbrook teen charged with shooting into home

MILLBROOK − A 17-year-old from Millbrook has been arrested after allegedly shooting into an occupied home.

The teen was charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling, said Police Chief PK Johnson. Several shots were fired in a neighborhood, he said.

“This incident occurred in a densely populated residential area,” Johnson said. “We are extremely fortunate that no one was injured or killed as a result of this senseless violence. Other than the fact that this incident occurred, I am extremely disturbed by the fact that no one on the scene that was contacted by law enforcement saw or heard anything, yet they were present when the incident occurred.”

On Saturday at about 9 p.m., officers responded to a report of “multiple” shots fired off Thornfield Drive. Officers found several spent finding shell casings in the area. While investigating if anyone had been injured, officers were told that there had been several people were at a residence near the cul-de-sac before the shots were fired.

Officers said they were approached by a man who said that he was inside his home when he heard multiple gunshots. A short time later, the homeowner discovered that his residence had damage consisting of a projectile entering a window of the residence.

On closer inspection, it appeared that a round entered the front of the victim’s residence, traveled through a bedroom and exited the rear of the residence, police said.

The teen was arrested Tuesday, reports show.
