Arsenal fans all say the same thing about Ben White after England update, their message is clear

The controversy surrounding Ben White and England still rages.

Arsenal defender Ben White has not played for England since 2022.

Last March, White asked not to be considered for England selection.

The 26-year-old right-back has been heavily criticised for the move by many pundits, with former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp being one of those to criticise White.

However, the Arsenal man was not swayed and remains in a self-imposed exile from international football.

England interim manager Lee Carsley recently said White still wants to be kept out of Three Lions discussions and has asked not to be contacted by the national team, despite Gareth Southgate and his coaching staff no longer being in charge.

Arsenal fans back Ben White following England decision

Many Arsenal fans have now taken to X to show their support for White and his decision to focus solely on club football.

One supporter said: “Another cheap dig at Ben White. Leave him alone, he’s made his choices and he’s entitled to make choices, just like you or anyone else.”

Another said: “I have a lot of respect for Ben White’s authenticity. I think in the macho environment of football, a lot of players are afraid to ‘conform’ and be seen to be saying and doing the right things.

“I have a lot of respect for White being honest about his poor footballing heritage (which shouldn’t be a shocking confession, but even a guy who reached the level of being part of the England staff couldn’t accept it) and not seeing international football as the end all be all.

“I think that’s probably true for a lot of players who hide it for fear of being ostracized.”

Another said: “He actually said don’t contact me, the aura is crazy.”

One added: “That’s good. At least one less player who risks getting injured in a pointless international match.”

Another even said: “Ben White would be doing Carsley and England a favour by playing for them, that’s not his job. Carsley is an idiot for trying to pin the blame on White.”

Arsenal united behind Ben White

These Arsenal fans have made their feelings clear, and Mikel Arteta will agree with their stance.

The manager will support the player’s decision and appreciate that White is not at risk of sustaining any injuries during his international tenure.

White has already shown he can handle the attention on his international career without letting it detract from his performances for the Gunners.

Arteta will back the right-back to show England what they are missing against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
