Teen charged in fatal shooting of 13-year-old boy at home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested for allegedly killing a 13-year-old earlier this month, according to an email from Horry County police spokeswoman Mikayla Moskov.

He was charged with involuntary manslaughter and taken to the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Detention. He lived in the same home as Jaiden Smalls, the 13-year-old who died, Moskov said in a news release.

The name of the 15-year-old will not be released because he is a minor.

Smalls, of Myrtle Beach, died from injuries sustained in a shooting at a home, according to an email from Horry County Deputy Coroner Michelle McSpadden. The incident happened around 12:30 a.m. Sept. 1 at a home along Terrace View Court in the Carolina Forest area.

It is not clear why the shooting took place. It was an isolated incident that poses no risk to the public.
