One person injured in 'shooting' near public park in Perry

PERRY, Fla. (WCTV) – One person was injured following a “shooting incident” Thursday night, according to a Facebook post from the Perry Police Department.

The shooting took place near Gerald Walker Park on Warner Avenue, the publication said.

According to a Perry Police spokesperson, no additional details about the incident will be released beyond their initial Facebook post, but they may be able to provide an update Friday morning.

The incident comes after a week of gun threats against schools in Big Bend and south Georgia. Taylor County Schools has increased security on its campuses this week due to the number of threats.
