Family continues to search for answers after 21-year-old was murdered two years ago

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – A Birmingham family needs your help finding the person who shot and killed a son and brother. Two years ago, 21-year-old Kendall Thornton was shot while driving along Pinson Valley Parkway.

Crime Stoppers says Thornton was on his way home when the driver behind him noticed his car left the roadway and entered the woods. Police found his car next to a tree and they thought it was a fatal car accident until they saw his car riddled with bullets.

Whoever pulled the trigger is still out there. Initially, Crime Stoppers said tips were pouring in for the case, but two years later that all stopped. The police think other drivers must have seen something, and that’s who they want to hear from.

With $12,500 in reward money now available, Crime Stoppers’ Bob Copus says they hope this will encourage people to do the right thing and speak out. He says two years later it’s still something that haunts the Thornton family, especially his mother.

“She called me and said, ‘Bob, is there an update?’ I told her, “Ma’am, if that were the case, I would call you.” So she asked if there was a way to get the matter out again. I ask that you speak up now. Let’s solve this case and bring some relief to this family,” Copus said.
