From a place to buy books, Amazon has now evolved into a place where you can buy anything. Even a house, yes. But is it viable and does it even make sense to buy one from the e-commerce giant? Well, a group of YouTubers took up the challenge and answered some of our questions. And by not reading the fine print on the product, they got into big trouble.

Nathan Graham, the man behind the YouTube channel Unspeakable, bought the pre-built house from Amazon for $38,999. Upon arrival, the house required unpacking from the Amazon branded box. Nathan pointed out that although the house came complete with windows and a bathroom, the ready-made house did not come with any instructions. Upon further investigation, Nathan discovered that the 20-by-20-foot Chery Industrial expandable home had no electrical outlets. “I’m trying to find a place where I can plug in the refrigerator, but there are no electrical outlets,” the YouTuber said in the unpack video.

His friend asked: “Didn’t you order the electrical package?”. After this, Nathan realized that he had not read the full product description when ordering, which stated: “Reminder: Mobile Prefab House is not wired. Hire an electrician for American standard wiring. Pay attention to your safety!”

But Nathan came prepared with a generator to power some of his essentials, like an 80-inch TV and a refrigerator. The YouTuber also bought food, kitchen utensils, games, a sofa, tables, a vacuum cleaner and a bunk bed. Aside from electrical outlets, the house was also devoid of furniture, appliances, running water, and plumbing and sewer connections.

However, the house had built-in kitchen cupboards, a bathroom and a shower. Nathan Graham and his team have learned that while you can get almost anything from Amazon, it’s crucial to read the fine print to be aware of the details of the purchase.
