Grubhub driver twice vandalizes customer’s LGBTQ+ pride flags

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) – A Harrisonburg resident says the same Grubhub driver vandalized two of his LGBTQ+ pride flags. Now he’s looking for answers.

Michael Bardarik’s neighborhood is normally peaceful, but he felt disrupted after the same Grubhub driver twice vandalized LGBTQ+ pride flags on his property.

“It’s disheartening that people would do this, especially in broad daylight,” Bardarik said.

The first incident occurred in July, when Bardarik received guests at his home. The driver tore down a flag hanging from the white fence in front of the house.

“The delivery guy came, dropped the food, came down here and ripped the flag off the fence,” he said. “It looks like he’s taking a selfie with it and walking away.”

Bardarik’s Ring doorbell footage captured the exact moment of the incident, right up until the driver took a selfie with the flag. The photos show the flag afterward, with a piece torn off.

Bardarik’s neighbor bought him a new flag for his garden, but a month later the same delivery man returned. Another incident was caught on camera.

This time, Ring camera footage showed the driver kicking the new flag as he drove up to Bardarik’s front door. After dropping the food on the porch, he can be seen tossing the flag across the yard. Bardarik reached out to Grubhub, to no avail.

“I tried to escalate the matter, to get someone to take it seriously, and the best I got was a follow-up email asking for information,” Bardarik said. “I sent them pictures and videos, but I never got a response.”

The Harrisonburg resident is still waiting for a response from the city. Bardarik said police are aware of the driver and the investigation is ongoing.
