Directed by Reema Kagti and written by Varun Grover, the film stars Adarsh ​​Gourav, Shashank Arora and Vineet Kumar Singh in the lead roles. Saqib Ayub, Manjiri Pupala, Anuj Singh Duhan and Ali Abbas are also a part of the project. It is being made under the banners of Excel Entertainment and Tiger Baby Production.

Ahead of the screening, the entire cast of Malegaon Superboys posed for the shutterbugs on the red carpet. Varun Grover also posted a video on Instagram showing the crowd giving a standing ovation to Malegaon Superboys. The crowd erupted in cheers, making Nasir Shaikh emotional. “Absolutely insane response to the world premiere of SOM at @tiff_net,” he captioned the post.

Superboys of Malegaon will screen at the 68th BFI London Film Festival on October 10 at Vue West End and October 12 at Curzon Soho. It will be released theatrically in January 2025 before streaming on Prime Video.

The film is set in Malegaon, a small town in Maharashtra. It is inspired by true events. It is based on the life of Nasir Shaikh, an amateur filmmaker from the town of Malegaon. The people of the town turn to Bollywood cinema to escape the daily grind. Nasir is inspired to make a film for the people of Malegaon, by the people of Malegaon. He gathers his motley group of friends to bring his vision to life, bringing a new lease of life to the town.
