First Earth Day Event Celebrated at NASA Headquarters

Before the event, Trena Ferrell (GSFC—Earth Science Education and Public Awareness Lead) organized student groups from several local schools to participate in NASA’s Earth Day event. This included over 300 students from DuVal High School, Morgan State University, Howard University, Prince George’s County Environmental Academy, Prince George’s County Virtual Academy, International Hispanic School, and homeschooled students. On April 19, all students present at the time gathered for a plenary session in Webb Auditorium. Ferrell welcomed the participants and walked them through the presentations to prepare them for a virtual presentation by the former NASA astronaut Paul Richardswho interacted with participants and answered questions for approximately 20 minutes.
