Teen arrested with .40-caliber handgun at Oakland County high school

SOUTHFIELD, Michigan – A 15-year-old boy faces multiple charges after allegedly bringing a handgun into a Southfield high school.

Police said they received a report of a student in possession of a handgun on Monday, Sept. 16 at Southfield High School for the Arts and Technology. According to authorities, school resource officers found the student in a bathroom and after a brief struggle, officers removed a loaded .40-caliber S&W handgun from the student’s waistband.

The 15-year-old was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, resisting and obstructing and possession of a weapon in a gun-free school zone.

Police are expected to hold a press conference at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, where they will release more information.
