Former Habiganj Mayor Arrested in Murder Case

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested former mayor of Habiganj Municipality and district Awami League organising secretary Ataur Rahman Selim and later handed him over to the police.

RAB-2 and RAB-9 conducted a joint operation in Dhanmondi area of ​​Dhaka and recovered Selim on Tuesday afternoon.

Dhanmondi police station in-charge Anwar Hossain said on Wednesday that Selim was arrested in two separate murder cases lodged at Habiganj Sadar Model Police Station after the RAB handed him over to the police.

The murder cases are linked to the deaths of two people during student protests against discrimination in Habiganj on August 2 and 4. They were shot dead.

Selim has been named as an accused in two cases filed in connection with the deaths, the OC said.
