The Eagles appeared to be on course for victory when they reached the red zone with less than two minutes left in the fourth quarter. Star running back Saquon Barkley dropped a pass that could have been a first down, forcing Philadelphia to settle for a field goal.

When the Falcons got the ball back with a six-point deficit, veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins engineered a six-play, 70-yard drive that ended with a seven-yard touchdown pass to Drake London to give Atlanta the steal of the victory at Lincoln Financial Field.

Sirianni said he had originally planned to speak to the Eagles after the loss, but Hurts’ speech drowned out the message he planned to deliver to the team.

“Jalen is a tremendous leader. I’m sitting here thinking about what I was going to say after the game. He spoke from the heart,” Sirianni said. said“I think his message was spot on, spot on. We’ll always keep things internal, but ultimately, Jalen talked about the details. I just think he was right in what he said, his passion was unbelievable. When a player says everything you would say, I have no reason to talk afterward. It was spot on.”

Sirianni added that he thinks Hurts’ leadership display is an indication that Philadelphia has the right mindset after such a brutal loss, and he believes the team will be ready to bounce back when it faces the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

“Like I said, when your leaders are preaching the same messages that I believe in and believe in, and we’re all on the same page, it’s huge,” Sirianni said. “Quite frankly, I talk a lot… And so, I loved it and I know it helped us get back in the mood a little bit and make us realize that this was a game and we had to move on.”
