CCS Board of Directors Remains Silent on Ongoing Infighting Among Its Members

Columbus City School Board was silent when ABC 6 asked about infighting among its members.

A day after calling on a member to resign, they reconvened Tuesday night for a regular board meeting.

ABC 6 requested an interview with the board before Tuesday’s meeting but was declined.

After the council meeting was over, he went into closed session and asked everyone to leave.

“We’re going to go into closed session and when we come back, we won’t be televised,” said council president Christina Vera.

For two days in a row, ABC 6 has been denied access to speak directly to board members about what is happening with board member Brandon Simmons and his allegations against other board members.

A special meeting was called Monday night at which the board criticized Simmons with documented instances of what they called “disruptive behavior.”

Eventually, the board asked him to resign. Simmons was not given a chance to speak at that meeting, so he got up and left.

On Tuesday, we got our hands on the audio recordings that Simmons sent to the state auditor. Those recorded conversations are with Vice President Tina Pierce and board member Jennifer Adair.

He claims other members played a role in leaking documents about controlling the task force’s narrative.

When we asked the district for comment earlier today regarding these audio recordings, we were told the district had not had access to them.
