Jim Taylor Auto Group Announces Tenth Recipient of Annual Sales Donation

MONROE, La. (KNOE) — For the second year in a row, the Children’s Coalition: Signs of Suicide has been selected to receive the Jim Taylor Auto Group Memorial Sales Event donation.

Each year, Jim Taylor Auto Group selects a local organization dedicated to improving the lives of people in Northeast Louisiana. This year, their focus is suicide prevention.

KNOE spoke with Tanya Taylor Pesek, owner of Jim Taylor Auto Group, about how they chose this year’s winner.

“The Suicide Signs program has done incredible work in our area, but until recently it was only available to middle school students due to budget constraints,” Pesek said. “Thanks to last year’s donations, the program was able to expand its reach, and this year our goal is to help expand it even further to high schools in our area.”

Signs of Suicide is a school-based suicide prevention program that screens students for depression and then refers them to a professional for help.

Jan Daniels, director of the Signs of Suicide program, says she is grateful that the program continues to receive support.

“We are extremely grateful to have been selected again,” Daniels said. “This continued support will allow us to provide even more students with life-saving tools by teaching them how to recognize the signs of depression or suicide in themselves and their peers.”

The program will receive a portion of the profits from sales made at the three Jim Taylor Auto Group dealerships during the month of October.

If you or someone you know is having suicidal thoughts, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, available 24/7, at 9-8-8.
