Doctor’s stabbing in Chennai: Video shows patient’s son walking wiping knife and throwing away weapon – Tamil Nadu News

The man, who stabbed an oncologist several times in a government hospital in Chennai calmly walked away after the crime, a video of the incident showed on Wednesday. He was the son of one of the former patients of Balaji Jagannathan, the doctor who was attacked at Kalaignar Centenary Super Specialty Hospital.

The video, which is now going viral, shows how accused Vignesh surreptitiously took out a knife after the crime, wiped it and then hid it on his right side. He then walks calmly and throws the knife away.

“He cut him,” a voice can be heard repeatedly in the background, and security personnel point at Vignesh in an attempt to catch him. “Get him,” you hear people shout.

Vignesh then tried to flee but was caught and handed over to the police.

The video shows him arguing with security personnel. The guards can be seen holding the man down as the people nearby become irritated. When someone starts hitting the young man, a woman intervenes and stops the attack.

The man was later handed over to the police.

Dr. Jagannath is a renowned oncologist and lecturer at the state-run Kalaignar Centenary Super Specialty Hospital.

Vignesh stabbed the doctor several times in the outpatient clinic during a conversation about his mother’s treatment. He attacked the doctor because he suspected that the doctor had prescribed the wrong medicine to his mother.

Dr. Jagannath suffered seven stab wounds in the attack and is being treated and is stable.
