“I probably shouldn’t have said that.”

“I probably shouldn’t have said that.”

Kamala Harris once again brought up her Second Amendment credentials during a live event with Oprah Winfrey Thursday night in Farmington Hills, Michigan.

During a discussion about gun violence, Winfrey brought up Harris’s exposure as a gun owner during the debate against former President Donald Trump on September 10.

“I didn’t know that,” Winfrey said, to laughter from the studio audience at the “Unite for America” event.

“If anybody breaks into my house, they’re going to get shot,” Harris said with a laugh, before adding, “I probably shouldn’t have said that … my staff will deal with it later.”

The Trump War Room account on X attempted to use the opportunity to mock the vice president by tweeting the video clip.

Neera Tanden, the director of the Domestic Policy Council since last year, responded sarcastically: “Dear Trump War Room. You really got her. Please do not advertise this video of her and do not broadcast it in key states, especially rural and suburban areas. It would be really terrible if you did that.”

Democratic pollster Matt McDermott added: “Nothing has probably hurt Republicans more in this election than the constant sharing of videos of Kamala that make her seem more likeable and authentic.”

“Can Kamala describe the make and model of the gun she supposedly owns?” the Trump War Room account later asked. “And explain why she spent years advocating for mandatory gun confiscation door to door? That’s called pimping — and no one believes that bullshit.”

Harris has tried to strike a balance between promoting measures to combat gun violence in the United States while not alienating Second Amendment supporters.

Speaking Thursday night about school shootings and gun violence, Harris said, “We just have to use common sense.”

“I think for too long, on the issue of gun violence, some people have made a completely false choice, suggesting that you either support the Second Amendment or you support confiscating everyone’s guns,” she added. “I support the Second Amendment and I support assault weapons bans, universal background checks, red flag laws.”

On Thursday night, a survivor of the Georgia school shooting spoke as Harris looked on. Natalie Griffith was shot twice in the Apalachee High School shooting and appeared at the event still in a cast. Four people were killed in the shooting.

“This is not right, y’all, and it’s not fair. As Americans, we have to do better,” Winfrey said at the event. “Lives are being destroyed.”
