Mum slammed for showing off her ‘wild’ home after week of no tidying – but others argue it’s ‘understandable’

Mum slammed for showing off her ‘wild’ home after week of no tidying – but others argue it’s ‘understandable’

A mother who shared a video of her ‘dirty’ home after a week of not tidying has divided thousands of Australians.

Dani Fraser, a self-described “average person” from Sydney, was confronted with the mess that awaited her home after returning from a day out.

“This mess is overwhelming and horrible,” Dani said in a video.

“I work two jobs and I study full time, and when I come home and it’s a mess, I don’t want to deal with it.”

She showed a living room floor littered with grocery bags, clothes, high chairs, toys, and a kitchen with dirty dishes and workspaces littered with clutter.

The mother said her husband also didn’t want to deal with the mess, so the house looks like “chaos” after a week without cleaning.

But this hardworking Australian has a handy trick for tackling this boring task, even when it seems impossible and she lacks motivation.

Dani simply sets a timer for 30 minutes and cleans and tidies up as much as she can.

Dani Fraser, a self-described “average person” from Sydney, was confronted with the mess that greeted her home after returning from a day out.

The video revealed a transformed living space and kitchen after a quick half-hour clean, with everything tidied up, thrown away and wiped down.

“We did it! We accomplished a lot,” she said.

“If you are struggling and feeling overwhelmed by cleaning, try setting a timer… I promise you will feel so good when you are done… like a whole new person.”

While the mom admitted she still succumbs to a lack of motivation, she said she knows she’s not the only one who feels like she “freezes up” when faced with a huge cleaning task.

Australians were divided in their reaction to the video, with some finding it “refreshingly realistic” while others thought it was the “height of laziness”.

“I really love your honesty,” one said.

“Sometimes life is overwhelming, and that’s okay,” said another.

Others refused to see the bright side and called the level of disorder “insane.”

“How is this normal?” one of them asked.

“I could never have my house in this condition,” added another.

“Clean as you go! I don’t understand how a house can get so dirty,” added a third.

Many targeted Dani’s husband, who could sometimes be seen cleaning in the video.

“Your husband must do more!” one of them said.

Mothers of multiple children said the secret to banishing the overwhelming feeling created by a big mess was to clean constantly and completely declutter the house.

“I learned one thing a long time ago and I still use it today… I never leave a room empty-handed, I take what I can or just one thing,” one said.
