Chelsea ‘ready to offer Mudryk and two stars’ in transfer swap deal | Football | Sport

Chelsea are reportedly ready to offer Mykhailo Mudryk and two other stars in exchange for Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez.

The summer transfer window may have only just closed, but attention is already turning to who Chelsea can lure to Stamford Bridge in January.

One player who has emerged as a potential target is Argentine Martinez, who has had a slow start to the season at Inter.

Having yet to score this season, Martinez played 25 minutes in Inter’s 0-0 draw at Manchester City this week.

But if all goes to plan for Chelsea, Martinez could make a permanent return to England.

The Blues are said to be keen on bringing the striker to the club, with reports suggesting they would be willing to pay up to £84million for his signature.

This comes after Chelsea missed out on summer transfer targets Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney, who joined Galatasaray and Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli respectively.

However, there are also rumours that the capital club could offer the Nerazzurri a three-way swap deal, which would include Ukrainian winger Mudryk – a player Chelsea splashed £88million on last year.

According to the report, Chelsea could also offer Benoit Badiashile and Carney Chukwuemeka – two other players who were signed after Todd Boehly’s acquisition two years ago.

It is claimed that the trio would allow Chelsea to land Martinez for next to nothing in transfer fees, while also helping to move three players who have failed to establish themselves in the team.

It was hoped, particularly in the case of Mudryk, that the arrival of new manager Enzo Maresca would help get the best out of Chelsea’s talented starlets.

But that has not been the case so far, with Maresca having already publicly criticized Mudryk for his performances.

Speaking after catching the former Shakhtar Donetsk star at half-time in Chelsea’s recent win over Wolves, Maresca explained: “Because I wasn’t happy.

“In some moments we can manage certain situations better. He worked hard without the ball, but with the ball I expect a little more quality from him.

“He had some good moments today, but the reason was to change things and give Pedro (Neto) some minutes.”

Since then, Mudryk has played just 17 minutes in the Premier League for Chelsea.

He should get more opportunities in the coming weeks, given Chelsea return to League Cup action at home to Barrow next Tuesday.
