Fitch co-op tops East Lyme in swimming

East Lyme — Anna Orphanides and Addison Fulling each won two events and were on two winning relay teams as the fitch co-op beat East Lyme 113-71 in an Eastern Connecticut Conference girls’ swimming meet on Friday.

Orphanides won the 50-yard freestyle (25.59) and 100 butterfly (1:03.02) and Fulling won the 200 IM (2:23.27) and 100 freestyle (56.65). They teamed with Haley Singer and Jai-Lynn Wheeler to win the 4×200 relay (1:46.49) and Audrey Schrage and Wheeler to win the 4×400 relay (3:59.33).

Fitch, with swimmers from Stonington, New London and Wheeler, won the regular-season title last season while East Lyme won the ECC Open for the 23rd straight season.

Also winning events for Fitch (2-1, 2-0) were Gabby Donnarummo, Kaitlyn Kumpf and Wheeler while Jillian Arcilla, Scharge, Kumpf and Singer won the 200 medley relay. Julia Morcos and Sylvi Otter won events for the Vikings (2-1, 1-1).

In other meetings:

• Sarah O’Donnell and Thelma Grogan won two events each as Ledyard/St. Bernard beat NFA 99-68 in an ECC meet. O’Donnell won the 200 freestyle (2:15.90) ​​and 400 freestyle (6:04.21) and Grogan won the 100 freestyle (1:02.55) and 100 breaststroke (1:27.99).

Seidi Schiro and Anna Kate O’Donnell also won events and Samantha Palmer and Sunny Dudda helped win a pair of relays for the Colonels (1-3, 1-2). Natalie Bezanson of NFA (0-3, 0-3) won the 200 IM (2:21.07) and 100 butterfly (1:05.64) and teammates Kiki Rentos-Marenda, Peyton Welch, Lilly Gummoe and Phadra Diggs won the 400 freestyle Relay .

• Waterford lost to Lyman Hall 98-7 in a nonleague meet. Julia Gathy picked up the only win the Lancers (2-1), taking the 200 freestyle.

HS volleyball

• Bacon Academy swept Plainfield 25-14, 25-21, 25-9, in an ECC Division III match. Dominique Sanchez had 24 digs, Maddie Meyer had 15 kills and 10 digs, Bailey Handwerk had 13 kills and eight digs and Jillian Snow had 13 assists and eight aces for the Bobcats (5-3, 1-1).

• Griswold swept Ledyard in an ECC Division II match, 25-22, 25-12, 25-18. Kierra Neilson had 16 kills and two blocks, Abby Matheson had 11 kills, 14 digs and two aces, Bella Bruno had 31 assists and five digs and Rebecca Marsh had five kills, five digs and three aces for the Wolverines (4-2, 2 -0). Alana Brewer had five kills, Faith Dalton had nine assists and Lorelai England had six kills for Ledyard (1-5, 0-2).

• East Lyme beat NFA 3-1 in an ECC Division I match. Finnley Wilson had 12 kills, Bella Diep had 40 assists and Taylor Kachinsky had 10 kills for the Vikings (4-3, 1-1), who won 25-23, 23-25, 25-18, 25-10. Stella Hogan had nine kills, five digs and two blocks, Evelina Klyukin had six kills and four digs and Petra Berry had six blocks and four kills for NFA (4-4, 0-2).

• Wheeler beat New London 25-18, 25-12, 25-20, in an ECC Division IV match. Alyse Manley had eight points and 11 digs, Adriana Vitorino had 13 digs and six assists, Ky’Ani Allgood and Mia Donastorg had four kills each, Mercedes Pratts had 17 digs and Myrna Pratts had nine digs for the Whalers (0-7, 0 -2).

• Waterford lost to Woodstock Academy 3-0 in an ECC Division I match. Jennifer Macca Barnes had 12 kills and Ava Majeski had 13 digs for the Lancers (6-1, 1-1).

• Grasso Tech lost to Prince Tech 3-0, falling 25-16, 25-12, 25-20. Vera Bonville had seven points and Naomi Colon had seven kills for the Eagles (2-5).

HS girls’ soccer

• Chloe Green and Colbie Gisleson scored two goals each as NFA beat Griswold 6-0. Hayleigh Young and Fabby Gomes scored goals and Ava Boenig made two saves for the Wildcats (2-3-2). Paige Vreeland made 10 for Griswold (2-5-1).

• Lyman Memorial beat Parish Hill 4-0 in a nonleague game. Avery Volle scored twice, Becca Ziegler had a goal and an assist, Talia Dunphy scored and Phoebe Carpenter made three saves for the Bulldogs (6-1-1). Hannah Becker made 10 saves for Parish Hill (3-2-1).
