Alberta: Woman killed in highway collision in Saddle Lake

A woman has died after a collision on the Saddle Lake Cree Nation Highway.

Police in St. Paul, Alta., said in a news release Friday afternoon that they received a call at 7:30 a.m. about a collision between a mid-size sport utility vehicle and a school bus on Highway 29 near Highway 652 in the east-central Alberta First Nation.

The 46-year-old female driver of the SUV died at the scene, while the female driver of the bus suffered minor injuries. There were no children on board the bus, said the RCMP, which is continuing its investigation into the collision.

Paramedics and firefighters also attended the scene.

Saddle Lake is located 130 kilometres northeast of Edmonton.
