Automotive news of the week: Mercedes’ F1-inspired supercar, Honda Elevate Apex and new Kia Carnival

This week saw several notable launches and updates, bringing new developments to the automotive world. From limited editions to refreshed models, the market has shown innovation and excitement.

Mercedes-AMG GT 63 PRO

Mercedes-AMG has unveiled the GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ “Motorsport Collectors Edition”, a limited edition inspired by the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 team. It comes in an exclusive Obsidian Black Metallic finish, complemented by hand-painted silver Mercedes stars on the sides and rear.

The car features an AMG carbon-ceramic high-performance brake system, a Burmester surround sound system, a driving assistance package, a 360-degree camera and the MBUX interior assistant. It is powered by a 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine, similar to that of the standard AMG GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+.

Honda Elevate Apex Edition

Honda Cars India Ltd. has launched the Apex Edition of its Elevate SUV as part of its festive promotion, ‘The Great Honda Fest’. The special edition features a piano black front spoiler with silver accents, along with the Apex Edition logo on the fenders and tailgate.

Inside, it gets a dual-tone ivory and black interior, premium leatherette door trims and a premium leatherette instrument panel. The Elevate Apex Edition is priced starting at ₹12.86 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for a limited period.

Kia Carnival MPV

Kia has unveiled the new Carnival MPV, which will be launched on October 3. Bookings opened on September 16 at a price of ₹2 lakh. Available in two variants, Limousine and Limousine Plus, the expected price is between ₹45 lakh and ₹50 lakh (ex-showroom).

The updated model features a larger tiger-nose grille and a refined front fascia. The Limousine variant will offer a dark blue and beige interior, while the Limousine Plus will retain the beige and black colour scheme.

Mercedes EQS SUV

Mercedes-Benz has launched the EQS 580 SUV at a price of ₹1.41 crore (ex-showroom), after the recent launch of the Maybach EQS 680. It is the sixth electric vehicle (EV) in the company’s lineup. The EQS 580 SUV features a contrasting black grille and distinctive daytime running lights, with a standard seven-seater configuration and optional captain’s chairs in the last row.

Additional features include a Burmester 3D surround sound system, ventilated front seats, electric thigh support and air suspension with adjustable damping.

Yamaha’s 2024 Monster Energy MotoGP Edition bikes

Yamaha Motor India has launched the 2024 Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Edition models, including the SuperSport R15M and the hyper-naked MT-15 Version 2.0. Both models are powered by a 155cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine.

The R15M is priced at ₹1,98,800 (ex-showroom), while the MT-15 Version 2.0 is available at ₹1,73,400 (ex-showroom). Both models sport a distinctive MotoGP livery covering the tank fairings, fuel tank and side panels.

TVS Apache RR310

TVS Motor has updated the Apache RR310, with prices starting at ₹2.75 lakh. The 312.2 cc engine in the latest variant delivers 38 bhp at 9,800 rpm and 29 Nm of torque at 7,900 rpm. The updated model features the Dynamic kit and Dynamic Pro kit, improving overall performance.

RV1 Revolt

Revolt Motors has launched the Revolt RV1, priced at ₹84,990, and the premium RV1+ variant at ₹99,990. Touted as India’s first electric motorcycle designed for the commuter segment, bookings can be made for ₹499.
