Driver who helped destroy popular caterer arrested

A month after the gruesome murder of a popular caterer based in Akure, Ondo State, Debbie Adene, his driver, who allegedly participated in the murder, has been arrested by the police.

The driver, whose name has not yet been released by police, had been on the run since committing the crime in August 2024.

The late Adene was murdered in her home on July 25, 2024, on Oda Road, by the driver and his 17-year-old personal assistant, Philip Emmanuel, shortly after celebrating her 54th birthday.
The driver, originally from Idanre, is believed to be the mastermind behind the brutal murder.
The personal assistant, who has since been arrested and produced at the State Police Command Headquarters, confessed that the money and gifts given to the deceased at the birthday party prompted them to take the decision to kill her in order to steal the money.
Emmanuel, who is currently facing murder charges, had earlier been remanded in custody at Olokuta Correctional Centre, awaiting legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
