In a disappointing turn of events for fans, the Pretty Little Liars reboot will not be returning for a third season on Max. Originally airing as PLL: Original Sin in July 2022, the series was rebranded as PLL: Summer School for its second season, which aired in May 2023.

The cancellation was officially announced by Max on Friday.

Creative Team

In his statement regarding the cancellation, Max expressed his gratitude to co-creators Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Lindsay Calhoon Bring, as well as the entire team at Warner Bros. Television.

The statement highlighted their efforts to reintroduce viewers to a new generation of characters navigating the trials of Millwood.

“Their unique and modern creative vision, combined with the immense talent of our cast and crew, gave the series a fun, horror-filled take that paid homage to its original Rosewood roots,” the streaming service noted, according to a report from The Wrap.

The Cast and Characters

The reboot boasted a talented cast, including Bailee Madison, Zaria, Malia Pyles, Maia Reficco, Mallory Bechtel, and Chandler Kinney, who played the titular group of liars. Other cast members included Sharon Leal, Alex Aiono, and Annabeth Gish, among others. This latest iteration was the fourth television installment based on the popular book series, following the original Pretty Little Liars, which aired from 2010 to 2017, and Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists, which only had one season in 2019.
