Cape Town announces 12-hour water outage

Parts of Cape Town will experience a 12-hour water outage on Thursday, September 26.

The City of Cape Town Water and Sewerage Department will be carrying out planned maintenance works which will result in interruptions to water supplies.

12-HOUR WATER CUT-OFF AT CAPE TOWN

The City of Cape Town said maintenance works, including the installation, repair and replacement of pipelines and valves, will cause disruptions to supply in the following areas:

Artillery Circle — Epping Industria TThe water supply to this area will be cut off from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25.

The municipality said this will allow the maintenance team to safely connect the main water supply line to the area, improving the management of future water outages. Affected consumers should store enough water in clean and sealed containers in advance..

Century City and part of Milnerton—The Water and Sanitation Department will test the closure of the main water supply line to these areas from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 26.

“This will help determine the areas that will be affected during the water outage to repair a leak on Sable Road, adjacent to the N1. The date of the water outage to carry out the repairs will be communicated shortly thereafter. Affected consumers should store sufficient water in clean and sealed containers in advance.”

Koeberg Power Station, 13th to 22nd Avenue Melkbosstrand, Or Skip Caravan Park and Melkbosstrand Village – The City of Cape Town has announced that its Water and Sewerage Department will close the 600mm diameter water main at Otto Du Plessis Drive. from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 26.

In addition to the repairs, the City of Cape Town Water and Sewerage Directorate will carry out Zero Pressure Tests (ZPT) and condition assessments on the water supply network in the following areas:

Thursday, September 26, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.: Vredekloof, Welgelee, Arauna, Morgenster, St Kilda, Marlborough Park, Brackenfell Industrial and Okavango Park in Brackenfell and Brackenfell South.
