Andhra Chief Minister Naidu announces state-wide temple ‘cleaning’ drive

Amid the Tirupati laddu controversy, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has announced that a cleaning drive in all temples in the state will be launched soon.

Addressing the media at the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) central office on Saturday (September 21), Naidu stressed the state government’s commitment to respect religious sentiments, pledging to take appropriate action after consulting religious leaders.

Naidu informed that discussions are on regarding necessary measures and their implementation regarding the Tirumala issue.

“A decision will be taken soon after consultations with Jeer Swamy, Kanchi Swamy and other religious leaders in response to the Tirupati laddoo controversy,” the Andhra Pradesh chief minister said. India Today reported.

Naidu blamed the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) for the Tirupati laddu controversy and said the party had not only committed the crime but had also shamelessly claimed that it was a diversionary policy.

“How is it possible to get a kilo of cow ghee at Rs 320,” he asked.

He added that great caution should be exercised while taking any decision regarding the world-famous holy pilgrimage centre of Tirumala.

The controversy is over the quality of ghee used in prasadam, which has sparked the debate over the presence of animal fat in Tirupati laddus.
