NFL: Josh Allen’s Buffalo Bills crush Jacksonville Jaguars as Cincinnati Bengals lose to Washington Commanders | NFL News

Josh Allen threw four first-half touchdowns as the Buffalo Bills scored on each of their first five drives in a 47-10 victory over a misfiring Trevor Lawrence and struggling Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday night.

Allen completed 22 of 28 passes for 247 yards in the first 30 minutes alone, with nine receivers completing passes. He attempted just two passes after halftime, finishing 23 of 30 for 263 yards before Mitchell Trubisky replaced him.

James Cook opened the scoring with a six-yard run before Allen completed passes to Dalton Kincaid, Keon Coleman, Khalil Shakir and Ty Johnson.

“It’s a good feeling, I can tell you that,” Allen said. “You could have easily had a game where we had 10 days off and we could have taken the pressure off, but we didn’t feel that from our players,” Allen said. “There was a lot of urgency all week long.”

Damar Hamlin gets his first career interception off Trevor Lawrence in his first Monday Night Football game since returning from cardiac arrest for the Buffalo Bills.

Leading statistics:

Jacksonville Jaguars

  • Passage: Trevor Lawrence, 21/38, 178 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT
  • Rushing: Travis Etienne, 11 carries, 68 yards
  • Reception: Christian Kirk, 8 receptions, 79 yards

Buffalo Bills

  • Passage: Josh Allen, 23/30, 263 yards, 4 TDs
  • Rushing: Josh Allen, 6 carries, 44 yards
  • Reception: Khalil Shakir, 6 receptions, 72 yards, 1 TD

Buffalo’s defense held the Jaguars to 70 yards, five first downs and a field goal in five first-half possessions. The game was all but over when Allen completed a 16-yard touchdown pass to Johnson 19 seconds before halftime.

Safety Damar Hamlin helped cap the rout with his first career interception, picking off Lawrence’s underthrown pass intended for rookie Brian Thomas Jr. Five plays later, Allen completed a 27-yard touchdown pass to Shakir, who caught the ball at the 22-yard line and broke two tackles while running down the right sideline for the score.

Hamlin’s interception came about 21 months after he suffered a cardiac arrest and had to be resuscitated on the field during a game in Cincinnati, which also took place on a Monday night.

Lawrence finished 21 of 38 passing for 178 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He has lost eight straight games dating to last season and hasn’t won since throwing for 364 yards in a 24-21 victory at Houston on Nov. 26.

“I’m not playing at my best right now and it’s frustrating,” Lawrence said. “You just have to play well, play well consistently, and we’re not doing that right now.”

He was taken off the field with 7:45 left and watched from the sidelines, hands on his collar, as backup Mac Jones was tackled and lost a ball three snaps into the possession. That set up Ray Davis’ three-yard scoring run.

The Bills will visit Lamar Jackson’s Baltimore Ravens in a blockbuster Monday Night Football matchup in Week 4, while the Jaguars will face CJ Stroud’s Houston Texans on Sunday.

Watch Jayden Daniels’ best plays from a historic rookie performance against the Cincinnati Bengals, where he set an NFL rookie record for completion percentage at 91.3.

Burrow threw for a season-best 324 yards and three touchdowns, but the Bengals (0-3) couldn’t keep up and are now off to their worst start since losing their first 11 games in 2019.

Daniels’ first career touchdown pass was a 1-yard pass to eligible tackle Trent Scott to start the second half, the second straight game in which the Bengals allowed a touchdown to a lineman.

Later in the night, Daniels sat tight in the pocket, took a hit and connected with Terry McLaurin from 27 yards out with 2:10 remaining for the game-sealing score.

His goal followed rushing touchdowns by himself, Brian Robinson Jr. and Austin Ekeler in the first half, in which Bengals kicker Evan McPherson made two field goals and missed another.

Cincinnati cut the deficit to 31-26 on Burrow’s second touchdown pass to Ja’Marr Chase, but the two-point conversion failed. Daniels then led a 7 1/2-minute drive that ended with a touchdown pass to McLaurin.

The Commanders continue their season against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday while the Bengals seek their first road win against the Andy Dalton-led Carolina Panthers.
