OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WLOX) – An Ocean Springs woman is spreading her love of music with an inspiring children’s book called “Let Your Heart Sing.”

Tucker Reynolds worked for years as a secretary for the Ocean Springs School District and is now a grandmother of three.

“I love kids,” Reynolds said.

Writing and storytelling takes her back to when she was a child.

“I’m one of five girls and my mom was always reading to us,” Reynolds said. “In the summer, she would get us all together and read us stories. Part of the story was the sound of her voice that drew me into the stories.”

Today, Tucker tells her stories. She has just published her first children’s book. Her inspiration for the lyrics came from music she heard at a church service.

"At any age, you can pursue your dreams. Sometimes they don't come right away, but they never come true.

“At church, I get to see testimonies and people coming together to worship God,” Reynolds said. “During the service, I could just imagine notes going from our hearts to our lips to heaven. I thought that was all that mattered. I ran home after the service, sat down, started writing it, it was really easy for me and I could picture it.”

The story centers around a girl who loves music. Tucker also loves music, and this story comes with a bigger message of encouragement.

“I hope people understand that we are unique, that we have gifts and that we don’t have to compare ourselves to others. She sings praises to God in good times and bad. It doesn’t matter if I have a voice that sounds like the person I’m listening to, I can still enjoy, sing, worship and be a part of the music in my own way.”

“Let Your Heart Sing” made Tucker’s dream of becoming an author a reality and she plans to write more books.

“At any age, you can pursue your dreams. Sometimes they don’t come true right away, but they never go away,” Reynolds said. “If they (the kids) could just take a little piece of it and make something positive out of it, that’s all I would ask for.”
