Coronation Street spoilers: Paul’s final goodbye

The street says goodbye to Paul, Sarah gets an offer and Carla gets a shock.

1. Did Joel end it all?

It seems like this is the end for Joel, after Dee-Dee receives a voicemail that appears to be a suicide note. Later, Kit and Lisa find Joel’s car parked on a bridge with a letter left on the dashboard. Lisa tells Dee-Dee that they are now looking for Joel’s body.

2. Stu’s Awakening

Stu is surprised to arrive at work early and find Mason already there. Mason explains that he spent the night at the diner to avoid being beaten up by his brothers again. Stu feels for the boy and wants to help him, but what can he do? And can he really trust Mason?

3. Adam’s return to the past

Sarah is still in Turkey with Bethany and she is having trouble accessing her voicemails. She is waiting for news about a loan she applied for to help pay for Bethany’s medical bills. Sarah asks Adam if he can access her voicemails and when he does, he is shocked to discover that Damon has left a message for Sarah.

4. Uninvited Guest at Funeral

Billy is at the church preparing for the funeral when he spots someone lurking in the shadows and realises it’s Paul and Gemma’s father, Denny. With Denny clearly drunk, Billy orders Paul’s father to stay out of sight as much as possible and to behave. But will his presence turn the day upside down?

5. Paul sets out on his final journey

Kit, David, Chesney, Summer, Todd and Dee-Dee all carry Paul’s coffin down the aisle while Bernie and Gemma walk behind. As Paul’s loved ones gather, the ceremony begins.

6. Billy pays tribute

With the funeral taking place on Billy and Paul’s wedding anniversary, it’s an emotional moment for him as he stands to deliver the sermon. Will he be able to pull himself together as he says his final goodbyes to his husband?

7. The Platts retaliate?

At the Turkish hospital, the boss of the surgery company approaches Sarah and offers to pay for her hotel accommodation. Sarah insists that they also pay for Bethany’s medical expenses, but the boss shows her the consent form Bethany signed before the surgery. When David breaks the news to the family, Audrey thinks they should use social media to show the world what the company is really about.

8. Concerns for Fiz and Ty

Fiz feels dizzy at work and so makes an appointment to see the doctor. Later, Tyrone tells the girls that Fiz isn’t feeling well, but he soon faces further worries when he finds Hope’s hidden vape, which she admits to stealing from the local shop.

9. The street party on

Bernie sets about organizing Paul’s memorial on the street in the form of a full-blown rave. Soon the street is decorated and Paul’s family and friends are dressed up and dancing in his memory as they celebrate his life.

10. Paul’s farewell is a real pleasure

Bernie asks Todd to bring Paul’s ashes to the memorial rave because she wants to give them the best seat on the dance floor. A hungover Billy is upset to go to the funeral home and discovers Bernie already has the ashes. But how will he react when he finds out Bernie plans to send Paul’s ashes into space?

11. What upsets Carla?

After receiving an official letter at the apartment, Ryan decides to drop it off to Carla at the factory. When Carla reads the contents, her face contorts. Ryan worries that Carla is stressed about her plea hearing, but when he confides in Lisa, she thinks it might be more than that.

12. Will Dee-Dee abandon Joel?

Dee-Dee confronts Joel’s father and deduces that Joel is on the run. Lisa interrupts their conversation, insisting to Dee-Dee that Joel is most likely dead. But is Dee-Dee on the right track?
