Creek County man convicted of attacking a federal officer with a knife

CREEK COUNTY, OKLA (KTUL) — A Creek County man was convicted of assaulting a federal officer with a deadly or dangerous weapon.

Preston James Campbell, 41, was previously convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm and assault occasioning serious bodily injury.

After his release from prison in 2024, Campbell violated his probation by testing positive for methamphetamine, failing to report drug treatment and failing to file a report with the U.S. Probation Office.

This resulted in two federal arrest warrants for him.

On July 1, 2024, U.S. Marshals were attempting to execute the warrant when Campbell ran toward a deputy with a knife in his hand.

The deputy deflected the knife, preventing injury, and Campbell fled into a wooded area.

He was finally arrested three weeks later.
