Mitchell Board of Education to weigh LB Williams Elementary roof repair bids - Mitchell Republic

MITCHELL — The Mitchell Board of Education will consider several bids for a roof repair project at LB Williams elementary school on Thursday morning.

The special meeting of the board is scheduled for 8 am Thursday, in Room 10 at the Mitchell Career and Technical Education Academy.

The board will consider nine separate bids for re-roofing the LB Williams Elementary school building, located on University Avenue on the campus of Dakota Wesleyan University. Joe Childs, superintendent for the Mitchell School District, said the roof on the building is in need of considerable repair.

“As previously discussed, the (LB Williams Elementary School) roof is in poor condition. Through the bid process, (the Mitchell School District) has secured nine bids for the reroofing of this building,” Childs said in his notes in the meeting agenda.

The board will consider the following bids for the project. Bids are for replacement of the entire roof.

$476,000 – White Hawk Roofing
$495,774 – Dalsin Roofing and Sheet Metal

$540,208 – Roofing and Construction Company
$2,672,321 – NorthStar Logistics

Childs said in his notes that he would recommend to the board the approval of the bid of $476,000 from White Hawk Roofing. The company is based out of Gretna, Nebraska.

The meeting is open to the public. The Mitchell Republic will livestream the meeting on its website.
