Bloober Team, Developing Silent Hill 2 Remake, Had to ‘Push Konami Really Hard’ for PC

The age-old cold war between PC and consoles has calmed considerably in recent years. Once, everything was in its own silo, with games from one platform never appearing on another. A few, however, have crossed borders, and like the original, the Silent Hill 2 The remake will also be released on PC and console. But it wasn’t that simple, as its developer Bloober Team told us.

It seems that Konami wasn’t always so keen on the idea of a PC port of Silent Hill 2. In an interview with Polish financial site Bankier, Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno opened up about some of the challenges the developer faced when it first started working on the horror remake.

“Silent Hill 2 is a game that has been associated with the PlayStation brand from the very beginning,” says Babieno. “In the very beginning, we had to put pressure on Konami to focus on PC. For them, PlayStation is their main market, but judging by the interest generated by the Steam platform, it seems that the launch should also be successful.”

Additionally, Bloober Team’s CEO hinted in the Bankier interview that this might not be the last time we see the developer working with Konami. “We can expect that this won’t be the end of the adventure with Konami,” he adds. We can only theorize at this point what form future collaborations will take, but several Silent Hill games are in desperate need of a lick of paint, and some have never made it to PC.
