Topeka man arrested following alleged road rage incident

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – A 30-year-old Topeka man was arrested and booked into the Shawnee Co. Department of Corrections following a road rage incident on Monday, September 23, authorities said.

The Topeka Police Department responded to the incident just before 2 p.m. near SE 37th and Adams. When officers arrived, they were unable to locate the individuals involved in the alleged road rage situation.

A driver of a vehicle who claimed to be a victim reported that the suspect driver intentionally struck him in his vehicle multiple times on I-70 earlier Monday.

Around 2 p.m., DPT agents responded to an accident without injuries involving the suspected suspect vehicle. The non-injury crash occurred near SW 29th and Burlingame.

The driver of the alleged suspect vehicle was identified as Jacob E. Pitney, 30, of Topeka. As a result, Pitney was arrested and booked for:

  • Serious assault; Use of a deadly weapon
  • Criminal damage to property; Without consent, value from $1,000 to $25,000
  • Aggravated battery; Knowingly using physical contact in an angry or rude manner with a weapon
