Shelter-in-place in West St. Paul lifted after suspect arrested

The shelter-in-place in West St. Paul was lifted Thursday evening after police arrested a man.

West St. Paul police said they responded Thursday evening to a report of a man with a gun in the area of ​​Emerson Avenue and Langer Circle.

At the scene, officers learned that the man was in a nearby home that may be sheltering children.

Those inside were safely evacuated before the suspect left the residence unarmed. Police did not say the ages of the other people in the residence.

The man was safely taken into custody, authorities said. It is unclear whether he will be charged for the incident.

The confinement in place lasted several hours Thursday evening.
