Clock continues to run down on Jaguars’ Pederson

Through ten games, the Jacksonville Jaguars are 2-8 and appear to be becoming less competitive. Barring injuries to key players, could Doug Pederson’s time with the team come to an end if the team doesn’t find success under his leadership?

During his time as head coach of the Jaguars since 2022, Pederson has led the Jaguars to consecutive 9-8 records, but this season is a different story. The Jaguars would have to be flawless for the rest of the season to make it three straight seasons and finish one game above .500.

In 2022, the Jaguars made the playoffs as a Wild Card team led by Pederson, but haven’t had a chance to chase a title since. The team has had setbacks this season, yes, but there have also been games they have lost that they could have held on to.

In their most recent games, the Jaguars lost by less than ten points, remaining very competitive against their opponents, but unable to close out the game. From drive decisions that don’t work to punting multiple times per quarter, Pederson and the Jaguars have failed to get into a groove since their win over the New England Patriots.

The schedule for the Jaguars doesn’t get any easier either. In their next games, they will face the Detroit Lions and then division rivals the Houston Texans and the Tennessee Titans. As the underdog in the next two games, Pederson must find a way to get his team back in the win column.

Management could overlook this season for the Jaguars if they want to keep Pederson in hopes of more success next season. The team has multiple players listed as questionable for Week 11 against the Lions, which can only spell disaster considering how hot Detroit has been.

After the loss to the Vikings, whether upside down or by accident, Pederson showed frustration with the media when he dodged a question in the final stretch. Whether upside down or by accident,

“I’m not going to go through the details of the play because you guys wouldn’t find out, but we’ll go through the tape tomorrow and make those corrections,” Pederson said.
