British womenswear brand Meadows announces closure

The founder of Meadows, LF Markey’s sister brand, announced that the company would be suspended indefinitely due to “limited time and resources.”

Louise Markey revealed the news in a post on the women’s brand’s official Instagram page, where she said she would instead focus on LF Markey in order to “simplify things.”

In the caption, Markey said: “Producing the Meadows range is labor intensive and, as an independent company with limited time and resources, we made the decision to focus on LF Markey and placing Meadows on indefinite hiatus. »

Markey, a graduate of Central Saint Martins, founded Meadows in 2019 as a brand that was intended to function as the “polar opposite” of her flagship brand LF Markey, offering “romantic and feminine collections inspired by the Victorian era, from the prairies and folklore.

The pieces were designed in Hackney, east London, and sold online and in the brand’s boutique on Dalston Lane in London.

Rounding out the announcement, Markey said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our loyal customers over the years. We really enjoyed presenting our vision of folklore and femininity to you. We truly appreciate the love and support you have shown us.
