Dallas Cowboys’ Tyler Smith Gives Epic Quote About Roger Goodell and NFL Referees

The Dallas Cowboys traveled to MetLife Stadium on Thursday night and came away with a well-deserved victory over the New York Giants.

Although it was a big win for the Cowboys, who ended a two-game losing streak, it wasn’t all smiles.

Star edge rusher Micah Parsons was transported to the locker room with a foot/ankle injury during the game and defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence suffered a foot injury.

Then there were the referees.

MORE: Why giving Tyler Guyton a penalty doesn’t make much sense

Dallas was penalized 11 times for 89 yards throughout the night, with many calls leaving viewers perplexed. Even Al Michaels criticized the referees throughout the broadcast. Cowboys rookie left tackle Tyler Guyton ripped into the referees as he headed to the locker room, begging the NFL to make a change.

All-Pro guard Tyler Smith had a different approach, however.

When speaking to the media, Smith wanted to avoid a fine and so stayed away from blatant criticism, but he delivered an epic quote comparing NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to a mobster.

Smith was asked what he thought about the sanctions and he responded, “I’m not going to say. Roger Goodell protects these guys like John Gotti.”

Bright.

Using a John Gotti quote after knocking out a New York team? Smith is wise beyond his years.

Now I hope he doesn’t get fined.
