LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was arrested Thursday after leading troopers on a chase in a stolen vehicle in Lincoln, according to court documents.

Two Nebraska State Patrol troopers were in downtown Lincoln when they spotted a vehicle driving back and forth, according to an arrest affidavit.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle once it began to accelerate, according to the affidavit.

But the driver – later identified as Brian Gray, 40 – refused to stop and officers pursued him.

During the pursuit, Gray ran several red lights and passed other drivers at “a high rate of speed,” the affidavit states.

A police officer eventually used his patrol car to stop Gray near 141st Street and Raymond Road, authorities said.

Gray was taken into custody and investigators learned the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Lincoln, according to the affidavit.

He was arrested on suspicion of theft and operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest.

A Lancaster County judge set Gray’s bond at $50,000, meaning he must pay $5,000 to be released from jail.
