British Columbia road rage suspect dead, linked to gang conflict in British Columbia

British Columbia police confirm a suspect involved in a road rage incident that left two people injured in Mission has been shot and killed in Langley.

Johnathan Hebrada-Walters, 38, of the Edmonton area, was found dead on September 21 and investigators say his murder is linked to gang conflict in British Columbia.

His death comes after a September 8 road rage incident in which police released images of him and Amber Jenelle Toews in an attempt to locate them.

Police say a Mission couple was at the Tim Hortons drive-thru at Lougheed Highway and Cedar Valley Connector around 10 a.m. when they honked at the car in front of them because they were not moving into the queue.

Once they exited the drive-thru, the people in the other vehicle drove up alongside them and the woman threw a coffee cup at their vehicle.

The couple told police the vehicle followed them two kilometers to Bakerview Avenue and Cedar Street. Two people got out of a Malibu and attacked the couple with a baseball bat before driving away, according to Mission RCMP.

A 21-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man from Mission were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police found and seized the Malibu, but no one was inside.

New charges in road rage incident

Meanwhile, Toews, 35, also of Edmonton, was charged with assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm and mischief under $5,000 in connection with the shooting incident. road rage.

A Canada-wide arrest warrant has been issued for Toews.

Police say she travels to British Columbia and other western provinces. Police do not believe she returned to Alberta.

Toews has short blonde hair, a sleeve tattoo on his left arm, and a tattoo on his right thigh.

Mission RCMP are asking anyone with information about her to call 604 826-7161 and warn them not to approach her.

Fatal shooting linked to gang conflict

Investigators identified Hebrada-Walters as the homicide victim after police responded at 6 p.m. on September 21 to shots fired in Langley. Police found two men with gunshot wounds.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said Hebrada-Walters succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Sgt. David Lee said Hebrada-Walters was known to police and initial information indicates the shooting was a targeted event and linked to the ongoing gang conflict in British Columbia.

The other man, whose name has not been released, is also known to police and survived.

“This investigation continues to unfold,” says IHIT’s Lee.

“We are in contact with the British Columbia Special Forces Joint Investigation Unit (CFSEU-BC), as well as our policing partners in Alberta, to determine how these victims are linked to each other.
