Johnny Dufort

Now that we’re in the middle of fashion week, that can only mean one thing: the pieces presented last season are finally hitting the market.

To mark the arrival of its Fall/Winter 2024 ready-to-wear collection, Schiaparelli unveils a new special series of photos taken by photographer Johnny Dufort. It turns out these images were taken immediately after last spring’s show, when Dufort followed the models around Paris and captured them in the pieces.

A statement has been released, offering context behind this unique filming. It read: “It was around 8 p.m. when they arrived at Place Vendôme, after having paraded at Schiaparelli’s. Even though the weather had been nice all day, the night was starting to get a little chilly, but they didn’t care. They wanted to keep laughing and playing and strutting around some more. They posed for Johnny: one in front of the legendary Vendôme column, dressed in a sparkling dress, a nod to surrealism, which sparkled in the headlights of passing cars. The legendary Place, skillfully designed by Jules Hardouin-Mansart, offered a sensational setting at this late hour. This moment of freedom ends at the windows of 21 place Vendôme, Schiaparelli’s historic home, when a mysterious shadow appears, out of breath from running up the stairs, clutching her Anatomy bag like a surrealist banner against a background of Shocking pink flowers. The tête-à-tête between the glamorous dresses and the English photographer’s flash lasted only a few minutes, just enough time to highlight the strong points of this ready-to-wear collection. A flash in the night.

Simon Porte Jacquemus organizes an exhibition for Christie’s

On Friday, October 4 at 11 a.m. EST, a new exhibition will open at Christie’s Rockefeller Center that includes 70 works by sculptor François-Xavier Lalanne. Curated and designed by Simon Porte Jacquemus, these pieces all come from the personal collection of Lalanne’s daughter, Dorothée, and an auction will take place later in the week, on October 10.

Both Lalanne and his wife Claude were very influential in the field of sculpture throughout the 20th century, thanks to their realistic works that contradicted the dominant abstract art of the time. Under the name Les Lalanne, the couple became particularly known for their depictions of animals and their works have been exhibited around the world.

You can browse the entire collection that will be on display at Christie’s here. The auction will begin at 11:00 a.m. EST on October 10.

On Tuesday, September 24, the official LoveFrom and Moncler collaboration was revealed, marking LoveFrom founder Jony Ive’s first venture into outerwear.

Ive, who was previously director of design at Apple, launched LoveFrom in 2019 alongside Marc Newson, which they consider a “creative collective of designers, architects, musicians, filmmakers, writers, engineers and artists.

With this latest alliance, Ive addresses this aspect of the designer by teaming up with Moncler’s Remo Ruffini to create vibrant, pastel-colored pieces, made in part with Moncler’s new high-quality recycled nylon.

“The people I work with have become more important to me than what I work on,” Ive said in a statement. “Our collaboration was wonderfully simple and joyful. We’ve learned so much from each other and I’m particularly happy that this modest collection marks the start of a longer-term collaboration. Available October 10, you can shop the new collection here.
