The Las Vegas Raiders will not consider trading wide receiver Davante Adams while he is out “on a week-to-week basis” after suffering a hamstring injury during Thursday’s practice, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

According to Schefter, trading Adams “is not currently an option” for the Raiders, who were considering treating the receiver as “a non-starter” this offseason.

Raiders management turned down “at least two teams” who contacted a potential trade for Adams this summer, according to Schefter.

The Raiders announced Friday that Adams will miss Sunday’s home game against the Cleveland Browns due to his injury.

After three games, Adams leads his team with 209 receiving yards. Earlier this month, the forward denied rumors that he wasn’t “happy” to play in Las Vegas amid the Raiders’ 1-2 start to the season.

Trade rumors regarding Adams gained momentum last weekend when head coach Antonio Pierce criticized unspecified players after the Raiders dropped a 36-22 loss to the Carolina Panthers at home on Sunday. last.

“As the game went on, I think some individuals were making business decisions,” Pierce told reporters after the loss. “And we will also make business decisions in the future.”

Schefter indicated he didn’t believe those decisions would include seeking a trade for Adams.

Adams is technically signed for two more seasons after this campaign, but according to Spotrac, it is “fair to consider 2024 a walk year” for Adams given that his salary is not guaranteed for the 2025 or 2026 seasons.

Because he’s essentially playing this season on a one-year deal worth $17.5 million, according to Spotrac, Adams would likely be a desirable deadline for a contender, especially given Schefter’s report that attracted commercial interest from “several” suitors this summer.

Whether or not the Raiders end up considering a potential deal could depend on the team’s ability to climb out of the 1-2 hole.

The team will have to start that recovery Sunday without Adams, who first appeared on the Raiders’ injury report with a hamstring issue Thursday, a day before being ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Browns.

According to Schefter, Adams “stood up lame” while “grabbing his hamstring” near the end of Thursday’s practice.

“As a source told ESPN this weekend, wide receivers and hamstring injuries are not a good combination,” Schefter wrote.

The Raiders also prepare to face the Browns while missing a star defensive player, Maxx Crosby, who was ruled out with an ankle injury Saturday.

The absences are unusual for Crosby, who hasn’t missed a game in five previous NFL campaigns, and for Adams, who was last sidelined for a game in 2021 while playing for the Green Bay Packers. The Raiders will have to work to overcome these losses on offense and defense as Gardner Minshew gets another chance as QB1 after his Week 3 benching.
