Ibrahima Konate shares what Arne Slot told Liverpool players at half-time against Wolves

Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate impressed once again as the Reds beat Wolves 2-1 in the Premier League.

Konate was disappointed by a Man of the Match snub against Wolves, with the honor going to Ryan Gravenberch.

Both Liverpool men shone as the Merseyside side fought hard to leave Molineux with all three points.

Arne Slot will be delighted with the result, which puts his side at the top of the Premier League table after six matches.

Konate gave the visitors the lead by rising high to head home a Diogo Jota cross, the goal coming in first-half injury time.

Ibrahima Konate reveals Arne Slot’s half-time message against Wolves

But Rayan Ait-Nouri equalized for the hosts in the 56th minute, with Konate and Alisson failing to cope with Wolves’ attack.

This will have frustrated Slot immensely, particularly given his message to the Liverpool players after the opening 45 minutes.

Speaking to the Liverpool website, Konate revealed the message, saying: “Today was a big fight against Wolves. The most important thing for us today was to take the three points.

“We are very happy and now we have to be focused for the next match. But we have to learn what we missed – and I think that’s the most important thing today.

“I remember the first half was very difficult for the team because we were behind, and that’s what the coach said (at halftime): we need more concentration and more aggressiveness when we start pressing.

“I think when we came back (for) the second half, we did it well (in) the first 15 minutes, but after that it was a big battle again. But we are looking forward to this game today and I think we need to keep that in mind and find out what we missed today.

Liverpool leapfrog Wolves to top Premier League table

The Reds would have been on top after beating West Ham 5-1 in the third round of the League Cup during the week.

But the trip to Wolves presented a different and dangerous challenge, even with Gary O’Neil’s side struggling this season.

Slot, however, guided his side to three important points, on a weekend where Man City could only draw against Newcastle United.

Wolves have certainly worried their opponents at times, with the narrow defeat leaving them bottom of the table.

Micah Richards had a mixed opinion on Konate, who is now looking to extend his tally in the competition, having also scored with a header against AC Milan in the Champions League.

“First goal in the Premier League and I hope it’s not the last,” he said. “Yes, I am very happy. It was a very nice center from Jota.

“OK, I scored but the most important thing is that we won today. We work a lot on that and I hope Virg (van Dijk) and I will score more goals this season.
