Kettlewell praises ‘outstanding’ Oxborough – Yahoo Sports

Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell has praised Aston Oxborough after an inspired display from the goalkeeper helped the Steelmen to a 2-1 victory over St Mirren on Saturday.

The 26-year-old has mainly been used as a substitute since signing for Motherwell in 2022, but has seized his chance since Liam Kelly’s summer move to Rangers.

He made seven saves against the Buddies, including stopping Mark O’Hara’s penalty in the second half.

“Aston have been outstanding since the start of the season – he has shown he is a very good number one at this level,” Kettlewell said.

“Aston will openly tell you that I have always had confidence in him, he is in the early stages of his goalkeeping career when you look at the games he has played and the opportunities he has had.

“What he’s done is he’s really presented himself to the Motherwell fans as a reliable goalkeeper and someone we trust between the goalposts.”
