Minu Muneer makes another shocking claim: Actor Balachandra Menon ‘forced’ to watch ‘group sex’ in 2007

#MeToo in Kerala film industry: In another shocking revelation, Malayalam actor Minu Muneer has alleged that filmmaker-actor Balachandra Menon forced her to watch group sex in his bedroom in 2007, says a report of India today.

“There were a few other men sitting and watching. There were three girls and him in the room doing this. I walked out of the room. He asked me to sit and watch,” said Muneer quoted by India Today.

Earlier, she had accused several people, including actor Jayasurya and CPI(M) MLA Mukesh, of physical and verbal abuse.

Her allegations came after the Hema committee report raised issues of sexual exploitation faced by several actresses and workers in the Malayalam film industry.

The Justice Hema Committee report, released on August 19, noted that the Malayalam film industry is controlled by around 10 to 15 male producers, directors and actors who dominate and exercise control over the industry.

Speaking about the investigation into the cases related to her previous accusations, Muneer said, “I am very happy with the investigation. Seeing an MP with this much influence get arrested is not a simple thing. For me, it was a hunch when the report was published. When the Chief Minister said that we will register cases on receipt of complaints, I thought I should speak out about it.

“I had a lot of dreams, but the industry turned out to be a nightmare for me. It (the Hema committee report) is a cleansing not only of the industry but also of our society,” he said. -she added.

Additionally, Muneer said she received several phone calls from people looking to negotiate a compromise for money.

“Now I no longer answer calls from unknown numbers,” she added.

On September 25, Malayalam actor Edavela Babu was arrested by the Special Investigation Team after he was accused of physical and verbal abuse by Minu Muneer.

However, he was released on anticipatory bail in the case.

On August 28, the first FIR was registered against actor and CPI(M) MP from Kollam, Mukesh M, following Muneer’s complaint.
