Trump Rant Stuns CNN Kaitlan Collins: ‘Literally the Purge’

CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins offered a stunned assessment of the former president that of Donald Trump declaiming a ‘violent’ hour of police brutality, calling it ‘literally the plot of the film’ The purge.”

At a rally in Erie, Pennsylvania, on Sunday, Trump called on police to send a message by being “extraordinarily brutal” for a day, or for “a tough, and I mean really tough, hour.”

Sunday evening, the day edition of CNN NewsroomCollins wrapped up segment with GOP pollster Frank Luntz playing up this moment and asking “when you talk about these undecided and convincing voters, how do you think they hear something like that?” »:

COLLINS: Trump earlier today and he did some of this yesterday, but today he was talking about this violent crackdown on crime in the United States. I want you to just listen to what he said at a rally.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

TRUMP: I walk in – you see these guys coming out with their air conditioners, with refrigerators on their backs. The crazy thing is that the police are not allowed to do their job. A difficult hour, and I mean, really difficult. The news will spread and it will end immediately – it will end immediately.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

TRUMP: You know, this will end immediately.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

COLLINS: When you hear that, I mean, it literally describes the plot of the movie “(The) Purge,” for people who haven’t seen it. But Frank, I’m just listening to this, talking to voters. You know, when you talk about these undecided and persuasive voters, how do you think they hear something like that?

LUNTZ: Well, you get to the point and that’s essential. Voters, these undecided voters don’t like the way Donald Trump talks, but they agree with him on many of the most important issues.

They approve of Harris’ approach of focusing on the future, but they question her on questions like whether she is strong enough and tough enough.

So rhetoric isn’t effective, but focusing on the issue is, and that’s why there are still undecided voters. Because, frankly, they don’t want to vote for either candidate. What I tell people in my speeches is the good news, I will be done with all of this in less than 40 days.

The bad news is that one of these candidates has to win. This is the frustration of undecided voters. They like one candidate’s policies and prefer the other candidate’s personality.

COLLINS: Frank Luntz, this is a fascinating look at this race and where these voters stand.
