Ban for Douglas teenager caught driving under drugs

19-year-old failed drug test

A Douglas man was banned from the road for two years after admitting to drug driving.

Nathan Paul Cannell, of Orrys Close, was arrested on Loch Promenade on February 16 when a police officer in a marked police vehicle traveling behind him smelled cannabis.

The 19 year old failed a drug test and was arrested and taken to police headquarters; blood tests showed he was over the legal limit for cannabis.

Cannell’s lawyer told the court he believed he was fit to drive.

Fine him £1,000, and ordering him to pay prosecution costs in the amount of £50, Rachael Braidwood, Deputy Bailiff also told him he would have to take and pass an extended driving test.
