Human head washes up on beach, prompting investigation

KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. (WPLG) – Authorities have made a gruesome discovery in South Florida after a human head washed up on the beach of Key Biscayne.

On Tuesday, police covered the remains with a blue tarp and cordoned off part of the beach with tape.

Homicide detectives are investigating and the medical examiner’s office is working to identify the remains.

Miami-Dade police said it is too early to say if the case is connected to a teenage boy who disappeared Saturday while swimming near Miami Beach.
