Paragon Ragtime Orchestra presents silent film show in Austin

September 30 — Relive early Hollywood with the big-screen antics of Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton and Harold Lloyd when the Paragon Ragtime Orchestra accompanies three classic comedies with their original musical scores and sound effects from the 1910s and 20s. The Paragon Ragtime Orchestra (PRO) is the world’s only professional ensemble that recreates the syncopated sounds of early musical theater, silent film, and vintage dance year-round. Conductor Rick Benjamin will lead the orchestra as it plays original music from three short silent films. The Paramount Theater has not hosted a show like this, and we don’t know the next time Austin will have the opportunity to experience this unique program!

The PRO received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to present its programming in historic American theaters across the country.
