Man fatally shot during confrontation with police in Northwood, NH

A man was fatally shot during a confrontation with police in Northwood, New Hampshire, Tuesday morning, according to the state attorney general’s office.

Authorities said the man was “fatally shot at a residence along Route 4.” The police responded to a disturbance call.

“A law enforcement officer was injured during the incident,” authorities said. “There is no known threat to the public at this time. Per protocol, the name of the officer involved in the incident is being withheld pending the conclusion of a formal interview.

The exact circumstances of the fatal shooting remain under investigation, officials said. The man’s identity has not been released pending notification of family, authorities said. The QC State Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy.

Northwood is a town of approximately 4,600 located on Route 4 between Concord and Portsmouth.
