The crash site in Toledo is not cleared, leaving the woman trapped

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – A Toledo woman is stuck, and so is her car.

Toledo police said a driver exiting I-475 struck another car traveling on Douglas Road on Nov. 3. The first car hit an apartment building, while the other drove through a yard and crashed into a garage behind a duplex.

However, if you drive past the same spot today, it looks the same. The car is still wedged in the garage, the caution tape is still up and the rocks are scattered across the driveway.

To top it all off, LeAnna Burton’s car has been stuck in that garage the entire time.

“It’s been a week and a half and nothing has been done,” Burton said.

Burton said she can’t run simple errands without her car, forcing her to call for a ride or a walk.

“I have been seriously inconvenienced,” Burton said. “Not just physically, mentally and emotionally. Enough is enough and this has to get out of my garden.”

Since the crash, Burton said she has called TPD, the city and its affiliated insurance companies, but no one has called her back.

13 Action News called TPD and got some answers. Despite the current situation, TPD said their investigation was complete, but they were unable to tow the car from the outside due to the condition of the garage and the cars inside.

They also said this appears to be an insurance issue.

Meanwhile, Burton said the roof of her car is becoming more slanted by the day.

“I’m suffering again from an incident that didn’t even involve me. I was upstairs watching TV, minding my business,” Burton said.

She said this is not the first accident in the area and that people often drive too fast. She wants the city to post signs to encourage people to drive slower.

In the meantime, Burton said she is looking for someone who can help her resolve this situation.
